Our Teachers

Ms. Jackie - Owner/Director

I continue to learn and grow each day along with the children. I am a certified and licenced teacher in Washington, Florida, Texas and North Dakota. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education, Minor in Early Childhood, concentration in Gifted Education, many hours of training in differentiation, multiple intelligence theory and practices. I just completed my 23rd year of teaching, 20 of that in the public school system. During my time in public schools, I spearheaded (from the ground up) the Gifted Program in Mercer Island School District. Along with this, I also designed and wrote the district profile and mentored two teachers new to the program. In addition, I was a Teacher Consultant for National Geographic Society, State Coordinator for Geography Awareness Week, Task Force Member for Gifted Education in Lake Washington School District and an Australian Exchange Teacher. I have served on many school and district wide committees. I have developed and organized various outreach projects. I developed and implemented workshops for teachers and parents. I have been a reading specialist and supervising teacher. I formulated school wide broadcasting news programs with students in pre-K to 6th grade, organized and implemented the National Geography Challenge and End of the Year videos and much more. I have had many wonderful opportunities and experiences throughout my years in education. Working with children is one of the greatest joys in my life. My other pleasures are being a wife and mother of two (Cayden and Payton). I wanted to continue my training and practice in education and to be with my children as well. The past few years, I have been fortunate enough to create MI Learning Center, which is now MI Preschool, into a successful and unique preschool program. Now, I have the best of both worlds, “doing what I love best and being with my children.” This is how M.I. Preschool was founded.

Ms. Melissa

My name is Melissa Prock and I love teaching kids! I have been teaching since 1997 and I taught in the Mukilteo School District for 9 years. I have a Masters in Education and my Teaching Certificate from the University of Washington. I am married and live in Seattle with my husband, two children and my dog. I have an amazing daughter and son who are 4 ½ years and 15 months old. I have so much fun learning and growing with them every day. I enjoy reading, being active and outside, and spending time with friends and family. I feel so lucky to be able to work in this great preschool with an amazing staff, incredible children and their families.

Ms. Noel

My name is Noel Harper. I was born in Everett and grew up in the Mukilteo School District. I graduated from Mariner High School and went on to study Elementary Education at Eastern Washington University eventually earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in English and Reading. In 1993, I began working at Horizon Elementary with the special needs students, which is where I met Ms. Jackie. In 1998, I moved to Connecticut with my husband and worked in the Groton School District, teaching preschool children with special needs. In 2001 we returned to Everett to raise our family. I have been a preschool teacher for the past two years at M.I. Learning Center. We integrate thematic units using the multiple intelligences. I look forward to another great year teaching eager young minds.

Miss Marissa

My name is Marissa Jones and I am 19 years old. I am currently going to school at Everett Community College to be a teacher. I will be done with my Associates this summer and hope to transfer to the Western campus through Everett. I love children and have been working with them since I was twelve. I have done summer camps, a lot of babysitting, and have been working at the preschool since last year. I love seeing the progress made by the kids, and how excited they are about learning. I like being outside, active, (snowboarding and camping) and spending time with friends and family. I am excited to be here, and look forward to teaching and learning with the children.

Ms. Christina

I enjoy working with kids of all ages! I am thrilled to be a part of Multiple Intelligences Academy. It has been a great pleasure working at MI Academy and with the incredible staff, kids and families. We are so blessed to have such amazing children and families. The past four years I have been working at St. Thomas More School in Lynnwood. I have worked multiple positions, substitute kindergarten paraprofessional, recess supervisor, service manager and extended care. I am married and live in Edmonds with my husband and my 12-year-old daughter (Mackenzie) who is an awesome kid. We also reside with our two dogs. I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with my wonderful family and terrific friends.  

Mr. Brett

My name is Brett Ahlin. I am 16 years old and a junior at Shoreline Christian School. I am involved in many extra curricular activities such as; basketball, leading games at Awana and VBS. I also play the piano on my worship team at church. Last year I helped my mom with the Parent's Night Out and this year I look forward to doing it again.

Ms. Terry

My name is Terry Ahlin. I received my teaching certificate from the University of Washington in 1990. I taught kindergarten at Horizon Elementary in the Mukilteo School District. I left teaching to raise my son Brett. During the last 16 years I have continued to teach children through AWANA, Sunday School, VBS, and Children's Church. I was thrilled to work at the preschool last year as a substitute teacher and Parent's Night Out leader. I look forward to working with Jackie and her wonderful students again this year.

Ms. Jennifer

My name is Jennifer Rashell. I graduated and received my teaching certificate from Washington State University in 2002. I did the majority of my teaching in the Mukilteo School District and taught 1st grade at Mukilteo Academy until I had my first daughter in 2006. I am married and live in Mukilteo with my husband Mark, our two girls and our two cats. I am so excited to be apart of Multiple Intelligence Preschool, to teach again and learn with an amazing staff and wonderful children and families!

Ms. Jill

My name is Jill Keeney and I met Jackie when she taught in the Lake Washington School District. I’m an elementary teacher with 30+ years of experience in grades one through six. But I have always (since babysitting days!) been especially fond of 2 to 5 year olds. Now I have the wonderful opportunity to work with the preschoolers at MI Academy and the incredible staff. Besides working at MI I tutor, teach an after school math class, am the advisor to a school Green Team and volunteer on the Youth Education Committee of the Eastside Audubon Society, teaching in classrooms and attending fairs and other special events.

Ms. Jessica

Jessica Lee Bodge holds two degrees from Edmonds Community College, and has studied piano at the University of Washington. She has taught private piano and has been highly regarded and respected in her field for over a decade. She continues her education by attending Master Classes, workshops, and conventions around the country. After traveling around the country receiving some of the finest instruction on group piano teaching from the most accomplished musicians, she has started a program here, and has pioneered group teaching in the Puget Sound area. She is one of the first teachers to teach group piano instruction in this manner in the state of Washington. Mrs. Bodge uses several of the leading piano methods in this country as well as several of her own music games and teaching methods, to create the most amazing piano curriculum for children and adults. She has had extensive training in the latest technology and uses it in each class. Jessica is a board Certified and licensed teacher of Kindermusik, Musik Garten and Group piano. She has extensive training in piano, voice, performing and teaching, In her personal life, she is married to her wonderful husband, Brian and they two beautiful sons and a new baby girl who was born on September 11, 2009.
